US dollar down in Europe

The U.S. dollar was mostly lower against other major currencies in European trading Wednesday morning. Gold fell.

The euro traded at $1.5688, up from $1.5657 late Tuesday in New York.

Other dollar rates:

_107.52 Japanese yen, up from 107.45

_1.0334 Swiss francs, down from 1.0335

_1.0163 Canadian dollars, down from 1.0202

The British pound was quoted at $1.9706, up from $1.9689

Gold traded in London at $ 923.25 per troy ounce, down from $929.25 late Tuesday.
